It's important that hazardous waste is handled by specialists. As we offer a full range of services, we can deal with all of the hazardous waste generated at your business, from start to finish. The waste streams are bundled together as appropriate and then used as a source of raw material or fuel to produce energy. Whatever the source, you can always rely on the expert knowledge of our staff and our extensive network of state-of-the-art processing facilities.
One of the main reasons for setting up REMONDIS UK was to give UK producers a range of R code options to enable them to reduce and recycle their waste. In order to drive forward the number of material life cycles we are able to close, we collaborate with our sister companies around the world, exchanging best practice and sending materials abroad when we are unable to process them in the UK. We use our Transfrontier Shipment (TFS) licence to transport hazardous waste from our branches in the UK to facilities abroad - for example to Lünen, where the raw materials either undergo thermal treatment or are processed into alternative fuels. We make sure that the waste is handled, packed and transported using the most cost-effective and efficient method. This saves energy and helps us in our mission to close material life cycles.
Our business approach is based on providing services that enable us to treat as wide a range of hazardous waste streams as possible. Thanks to the diverse network of specialist companies in the REMONDIS Group, we are able to choose the best treatment for each type of waste and, wherever possible, recover the recyclable materials for re-use. We accept a wide range of hazardous waste, including:
The containers used for our Small User Drum Service meet UN specifications
Hazardous waste must be treated professionally and in accordance with the strictest standards – no matter how much or how little is generated. This is why we are not only able to provide you with suitable containers for large volumes (e.g. our 205 litre metal drums or our 800 litre safety containers) but also with our 'Small User Drum Service' (SUDS) for small volumes up to 40 litres. SUDS is a particularly useful service for workshops, printing businesses, laboratories and doctors' surgeries, as they often only generate small amounts of hazardous waste.
You purchase at least two containers from REMONDIS UK. The price for the containers covers the delivery and collection of the drums as well as the eco-friendly treatment and disposal of the waste. We pick the hazardous waste up from your premises as soon as you notify us that the drums are full. We will then arrange collection and replace them with new containers at the same time.
We call on the expertise of our partners in other countries in order to achieve our goal of closing material life cycles. REMONDIS was the first company in the UK to be granted a transfrontier shipment (TFS) licence permitting it to transport hazardous waste out of the UK. This allows us to deliver hazardous waste to REMONDIS Group companies in Europe. There, the raw materials are either thermally treated or used to produce alternative fuels for cement works and power stations.
Our sorting systems separate the materials strictly according to type, which means lower waste disposal costs.
We take over as many waste management tasks as possible for you, reducing your workload and allowing you to focus fully on your core business.
If required, we can provide you with small, compact containers, helping to free up valuable space for your production processes.
Depending on your wishes, we can either involve your employees in the waste management process or provide you with a team of our own specialist staff.
